Princess Cruises and Celebrity Cruises Debut New Ships
Alexandra Bohn,
ACC, has returned from pre-inaugural festivities aboard Princess Cruise's
newest ship, Ruby Princess, in Ft. Lauderdale earlier this month. With nearly 900 staterooms with
private balconies, the 3,070 passenger Ruby Princess is perfect for enjoying the
scenic Caribbean islands. Celebrity couple Trista and Ryan Sutter, who met on
ABC's hit reality series, "The Bachelorette," christened the ship. The 113,000-ton Ruby
Princess includes a dramatic piazza-style atrium featuring small-bite
eateries and performing street entertainers. Passengers will also enjoy an array
of dining venues plus a relaxing oasis just for adults called The Sanctuary.
Ruby Princess will also offer the popular Movies Under the Stars,
multiple entertainment options, Personal Choice Dining, Lotus Spa with fitness
center, an extensive children and teen’s center, and a wedding chapel.
ATS owners Bill
and Linda Cleveland
attended a pre-inaugural celebration aboard Celebrity Cruises' newest ship,
Celebrity Solstice, also in Ft. Lauderdale. With 85% veranda
staterooms, the 2,850 passenger Celebrity Solstice will sail
Caribbean and Europe itineraries in 2008 and 2009. Staterooms are 15% larger, on
average, than other Celebrity ships. The 122,000 ton Celebrity Solstice
is the first in a series of five "Solstice-class" ships. The vessel offers a
number of seagoing firsts: a half-acre Lawn Club with real grass and the Hot
Glass Show presented in collaboration with The Corning Museum of Glass. The ship
has 10 dining venues, including four specialty restaurants in the same area of
the ship; plus the Grand Epernay main dining room; the Oceanview Cafe, the
ship's buffet area; and a number of cafe food spots on Deck 5.
