Carnival Cruise Line's Newest Ship Carnival Dream Linda and Bill Cleveland traveled to New York earlier this month to witness Carnival Cruise Lines christening its new 130,000-ton, 3,646-passenger Carnival Dream on November 12. Academy Award-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden was godmother, smashing a six-foot-tall reproduction champagne bottle in the ship’s theater, sending confetti and streamers flying. Outside, a sister bottle exploded against the hull. The Carnival Dream is Carnival’s largest ship and its 22nd vessel. The $860 million ship, built at Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard, will operate from Port Canaveral, Florida, with year-round seven-day Caribbean service. Carnival Dream in New York harbor The ship boasts a new Ocean Plaza with indoor-outdoor seating, a cafe and live entertainment; 19,000 square feet of children’s facilities, including an aqua park with the longest water slide at sea; a two-level, adults-only Serenity retreat; an outdoor laser show; and a 23,750-square-foot spa.
